Indonesia, as the host of Asian Games 2018, makes some move in the promotional activities, including the promotion of the tourism. They put some tourism spots on the ads, whether it’s in digital and printed media or billboards.

So now, we are going to give you hints about the highlighted destinations in the Asian Games’ billboard series.

1 | Gigi Hiu Beach, Kelumbayan, Lampung

This beach in Lampung, South Sumatra, was named after the big rocks that formed on the shores of the islands, which are sharp and shaped like the shark teeth. After a lot of tourists come and visit this picturesque beach, they started to call it Shark Teeth beach, or “Pantai Gigi Hiu” in Indonesian. It takes only 3 to 4 hours drive from the heart of the city of Lampung.

2 | Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java

Borobudur is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Magelang Regency, Central Java. It is the world’s largest Buddhist temple. The temple consists of nine stacked platforms, six squares and three circulars, topped by a central dome. It is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. Borobudur was built in the A.D. 8th century; it ranks with Pagan in Myanmar and Angkor Wat in Cambodia as one of the great archeological sites of Asia. Once a year, Buddhists in Indonesia celebrate Vesak at the Monument, and it’s also one of the most visited tourist attraction.

3 | Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, Bedugul, Bali

This one is both a famous picturesque landmark and a sacred temple complex located on the western side of the Beratan Lake in Bedugul, Central Bali. Ulun Danu Beratan is the island’s most iconic sanctuary sharing the scenic qualities with the seaside temples of Uluwatu and Tanah Lot. Entering the temple gates, you will notice the typical Balinese architectural features and the tiered shrines. Inside the complex, the three main shrines are dedicated to worship God Vishnu, which boasts 11 tiers, God Brahma with 7 tiers and Shiva with 3 tiers.

4 | Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi

Tana Toraja, or Torajaland, is a highland region of Southern Sulawesi, Indonesia. Known as the “Land of The Heavenly Kings”, Tana Toraja lies about 328 kilometers in the north of Makasar, the capital city of South Sulawesi province. This place almost lost in time, it spans with green lush rice terraces, tall limestone and bamboo graves with misty Blue Mountains as the backdrop. In this place, you may find cave graves, hanging graves, tau tau (life-sized wooden effigies), baby tree graves and even mass slaughter of buffaloes. All of these bring you a sense of strangeness yet captivating.

5 | Mount Rinjani, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara

Mount Rinjani is an active volcano, located in the regency of North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. It rises to 3,726 meters, making it the second highest volcano in Indonesia. On the top of the volcano is a caldera, which is filled partially by the Crater Lake known as Segara Anak, or The Child of the Sea. This lake is approximately 2,000 meters above sea level and estimated to be about 200 meters deep. The caldera itself also contains hot springs.

6 | Padar Island, Komodo National Park, East Nusa Tenggara

Padar Island is a small Indonesian island between the island of Rinca and Komodo and is a part of Komodo National Park. It is an uninhabited island. The best time to visit this island is between the months of April until June, where the island is all green. Or September to November, where there are not so many tourists, so you can enjoy the magnificent views on your own. You should put Padar Island on your bucket list. Because when you get there, you will see the priceless view from the top of the hills. Padar Island’s beauty is truly indescribable, with on the pink beach, one black and one white. It is one of the most amazing destinations in Indonesia.
