About Event

Every year on December 4th, the Batui Indigenous community in , Luwuk, sends Maleo bird eggs as a symbol of their cultural presence and continuity to the Banggai Kingdom in Banggai. This tradition involves three regencies: Banggai Laut, Banggai, and Banggai Kepulauan.

The ceremonial center for the delivery of Maleo bird eggs takes place at the Banggai Kingdom Palace, located in Banggai Laut Regency. The Malabot Tumbe tradition, which is still firmly upheld by the Batui and Banggai Indigenous communities, serves as a cultural heritage that strengthens relationships between regencies and preserves traditional values.

The Banggai Laut Regency Government also participates in this event by holding the "Malabot Tumbe Traditional Ceremony," which is attended by customary leaders, government officials, all community elements, and students from throughout Banggai Laut Regency. The ceremony is accompanied by various activities, including traditional music performances, Baode, Ridan, and Toluni dances, traditional fishing, and a fish roasting carnival.
