Expect high-energy competition, which bring contestant from various parts of the world. The perfect weekend escape to challenge the participant’s skill and endurance that combines swimming, running, and cycling into one elaborate match.

The race is suited for all ages so all family members could join the fun. For three days (June 7-9), the participants will join the race in an exhilarating race with a stunning tropical setting.

The first day (Friday, June 7th) will take participants to experience the Sunset Swim Classic in the clear blue waters of the South China Sea. Enjoy a swim in the open water for a 1000 m sea swim with water temperature around 29 C, setting off from the picturesque beach of Bintan Lagoon Resort. The second day (Saturday, June 8th), will hold two major triathlon activities.  Sprint Distance (Triathlon-750m Swim, 20km Bike, 5km Run) at 9 am and Olympic Distance (Triathlon-1.5km Swim, 40km Bike, 10km Run) a little later in the afternoon at 13.40.

After a refreshing swim on the sea, the bike course in the lush greeneries offers wide, smooth roads and breathtaking views of Lagoi Reservoir, and the vista’s of Ria Bintan’s manicured lawns. The last race in the triathlon will be running. The run course takes the participants through the world-renowned Jack Nicklaus designed Golf course and scenic beaches of Bintan Lagoon Resort to a palm-tree-lined finishing chute.

The Third Day (Sunday, June 9th), will be a mixture of fun activities for Youth & Kids athletes and takes place within the controlled environment of Bintan Lagoon Resort.

Starting with 55 km Island Ride through cycling. The bike course takes place on undulating roads. Suitable for beginners and intermediate cyclists who can comfortably ride 55km at a leisurely pace. Youth athletes complete 2 laps of the bike course, Kids athletes 1 lap.

There is also Youth Distance (Triathlon - 300m Swim, 10km Bike, and 3km Run), Kids Distance (Triathlon-150m Swim, 5km Bike, 1.5km Run) and Fun Duo Challenge (1.5km Run, 150m Swim, dash to the finish line). The swim course consists of a straight out and back route in a calm sea, no swell or current. The run course is flat and has one drink station halfway. As Youth athlete’s complete 2 laps of the run course, they will pass by the drink station twice. Kids athletes complete 1 lap.

The Fun Duo Challenge is a unique way to introduce beginners and the younger kids to the sport of triathlon. Teams of 2 have to complete a run, a swim, and then finish the race piggyback (or other creative) style. The distances are shorter and fun. Hold on there’s more, for those seeking some festival happenings, don’t miss some fun-tastic pre- and post-race activities. Which includes a free Yoga and Boot Camp Sessions, Kids Club, Massages, Beach Party, and Kids Sunset Soccer. Exiting competitions, fireworks, and loads of fun activities, this is one event that is a shoe fit for a memorable weekend getaway.


Bintan, the largest Island in the Riau Islands Province is just a ferry ride away from the two neighbouring country, Singapore and Johor Bahru-Malaysia. Bintan has grown as a much favorable getaway for leisure as well as an important center for international sport tourism events. Much like the Bintan Triathlon, which has been running for the past 15 years. Another helpful fact, Bintan Lagoon has its own ferry service from Singapore with terminal in its own grounds with on-site immigration clearance.

From the capital city of Jakarta there are also daily flights to the Raja Haji Fisabililah Airport in Bintan Island. Among the airlines that served route to Bintan are Garuda Indonesia and Sriwijaya Air. It takes 45 minutes by car from the airport at Kijang to reach Bintan Lagoon Resort. Although taxis are available, you can book at the Hotel to fetch you from the airport.
