Festival Pacu Jalur Tradisional
The Pacu Jalur Festival in Kuantan Singingi, Riau, is a unique large-boat tradition dating back to the 17th century. Originally a race between harvest-transporting boats, it has become an annual cultural attraction commemorating Indonesia’s Independence Day. Each 25–40 meter Jalur boat carries 45–70 rowers, featuring iconic roles like Tukang Tari, Timbo Ruang, and Tukang Onjai. With the theme “Sustainable Culture, Prosperous Economy,” the festival showcases local heritage while boosting tourism and the local economy. As the world’s only Pacu Jalur festival, it attracts domestic and international visitors every year.
