Introduction

Indonesia is situated in the heart of the bustling Southeast Asia –sharing borders with Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Philippines, East Timor and Papua New Guinea. It is also located in the crossroad of Asia and Australia, creating a dynamic and diverse biodiversity. Furthermore, the archipelago stretches along the equator therefore visitors can expect sun all year round.

In recent years, South East Asia has rapidly grown to become a major hub for yachts. This growth is attributed to its economy that has been on the rise as well as the destinations they have so much to offer.

As part of the region, Indonesia recognized this growth as an opportunity to be seized and further developed as part of its effort to achieve its tourist arrival target.  The government has made huge improvement in bringing more yacht visits to Indonesia, particularly on the regulatory matters which enables yachts to clear into and navigate Indonesian waters, more efficiently and faster.

The Indonesian government picks up this positive trend and has put a great deal of efforts that are geared toward boosting more yacht visit and longer stay. For this reason, the government has encouraged the development of infrastructures, including roads, ports, marinas and yacht clubs across the nation. In addition, facility improvement of many tourist destinations has also been carried out by both the government and the private companies.

Last but not least, another significant factor for Indonesia is the fact that this archipelagic nation is blessed with natural beauty and marine abundance.  All of these factors present strong assets for Indonesia to develop its tourism industry, particularly on yacht segment.
