Wonderful Indonesia Wins "Best Creative Destination" at the Creative Tourism Awards

 

Jakarta, 6 February 2021 - Wonderful Indonesia was named the "Best Creative Destination" at the 2020 Creative Tourism Awards, beating 76 other destination nominations from around the world.

The Creative Tourism Awards, organized by the Creative Tourism Network, aim to reward programs and destinations around the globe that demonstrate a commitment to realizing virtuous tourism.

"Wonderful Indonesia, which is run with the innovative vision of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, in implementing its sustainable program has succeeded in creating good synergies among the tourism sector, the creative industry, handicrafts, and local communities," said Creative Tourism Network Director, Caroline Couret, in a written statement, Friday (5/2/2021).

Caroline said that creative tourism is marked by the active involvement of tourists in the search for meaningful, artistic, and creative activities, which enable them to appreciate the authenticity of local cultures in all parts of the world.

This includes presenting sustainable programs that benefit society while optimizing creative resources, as well as positioning itself internationally as one of the most attractive destinations in the world.

"The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia is seen as a model at the global level with such a paradigm shift. Wonderful Indonesia has also shown resilience in a year when tourism was severely affected," said Caroline.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, appreciated the award received by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency. Wonderful Indonesia is a form of commitment to promoting various destinations for domestic and international tourists.

"We certainly prioritize quality and sustainable tourism so that it can provide more travel experiences for tourists and have a big impact on society," Sandiaga said.
