Carrying ‘Wonderful Journey’, MOTCE Promotes Indonesia at WTM London 2021

Jakarta, November 1st 2021 - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (MOTCE), carries the theme ‘Wonderful Journey’ in an effort to promote Indonesia at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2021, one of the largest tourism exhibition in the world since 1980.

WTM London 2021 is carried out in a hybrid format (offline and online) on November 1-3, 2021, at Excel Centre, London, and on November 8-9, 2021 virtually.

The Government of Indonesia through the MOTCE has made WTM London 2021 as a potential event to market Indonesian tourism to foreign countries, and welcome the return of tourists. This is also a market expansion activity and maintains the existence of Indonesia as one of the top destinations in Southeast Asia for the UK market, as well as a flagship program at the MOTCE in the efforts of market recovery.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, explained that at the WTM London 2021, Indonesia does not only raise the 5 Super Priority Destinations of Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang which have been running since 2020, but will also respond to changes in the tourism business map affected by changes in market demand and trends.

Indonesia will also highlight the InDOnesia CARE, or I DO CARE program, to show that health protocols are implemented in almost all tourist journeys when entering destinations in Indonesia.

“This is an implementation of the three main strategies implemented in reviving the Indonesian tourism sector, namely innovation, adaptation, and collaboration,” according to Menparekraf Sandiaga.

Furthermore, Sandiaga explained that the participation of Indonesia in WTM London 2021 is also part of preparing Bali to become a pilot project for reopening borders for international tourists.

“The pandemic situation has changed considerations, behavior, and purpose of traveling so far. To answer the shifting market demand that prioritizes the safety of tourists, we will totally prepare a ‘Wonderful Journey’ that tourists can obtain when visiting Indonesia. Preparations include things that allow tourists to continue to enjoy and explore safely while implementing the health protocols system,” Sandiaga said.

“This pandemic is of course hits us all, not only in Indonesia, but also throughout the world. However, we cannot only sit back and wait for situation to be better. We must be able to survive and fight in this pandemic situation, we have to move together to ensure the Indonesian tourism and creative economy industry to Restart, Reborn, and Rebound,” he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Marketing of the MOTCE, Nia Niscaya, explained, the MOTCE has prepared a QR code connected to the microsite owned website www.indonesia.travel, which is installed on several sides of the Indonesian booth. On-site visitors can access directly by scanning the QR code that reads ‘scan and find out what we offer’.

In general, the main message which will be brought to market countries through Sellers meet Buyers activity in WTM London 2021 is in addition to the Implementation of CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, & Environmental Sustainability) Health Protocols in every tourism destinations as the main focus; also the #ItstimeforBali campaign which shows the readiness of Bali to welcome foreign tourists with a high vaccination rate, that has been carried out for tourism and creative economy workers, and complete vaccinations carried out in stages for the Indonesian people.

“The utilization of digital platforms has also been carried out in the Smart Space and Activation Package formats at the WTM London 2021 exhibition. Visitors can explore further information regarding the products and services of the participating Indonesian tourism industry through the QR code,” according to Nia Niscaya.

The MOTCE facilitates 70 Indonesian tourism industries acting as co-exhibitors. These include companies engaged in the fields of Travel Agents/Tour Operators, Hoteliers, Destination Management Companies (DMC), and Dive Operators from 12 provinces in Indonesia. Industry players joining as co-exhibitors have the opportunity to join the 1-2-1 meeting format using the event platform virtual and conference program.

We hope that the presence of Indonesia in WTM London, can be an opportunity to obtain the latest information required to plan your visit to Indonesia,” Nia added.
