Indonesia Sustainable Tourism Photo Competition (ISTPC) 2019

After a successful competition and beautiful photo submissions last year, Indonesia’s Sustainable Tourism Photo Competition (ISTPC) is now back! Now, with a prize of a trip to Raja Ampat!

The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia holds another sustainable tourism photo competition this year. ‘Sustainable Tourism’ itself is a tourism concept derived from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that have been adopted by the country members of the United Nations (UN) in 2015. As one of the fastest-growing industries and the largest foreign exchange earner in a country, the development of sustainable tourism is important to support the achievement of the SDGs.

"Sustainable Tourism in Indonesia must begin to be developed seriously to support the achievement of the SDGs. In Indonesia alone, sustainable tourism development is carried out based on the principles of the ‘3P’s’ (People, Planet, Prosperity) or Culture, Environment, and Welfare of Local Communities,” explained the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, Arief Yahya.

Due to this, the ISTPC 2019 is carried out by the Ministry of Tourism to raise awareness for the Indonesian youth on the concepts and principles of sustainable tourism. This photo competition, along with a ‘vlog’, is hosted through @indtravel and @pesona_travel Instagram accounts. This is aimed at young people that are locals or foreigners to attract them to a better understanding of sustainable tourism and for them to choose sustainable tourism in the future.

"We decided to use the 3P’s concept, namely People, Planet, Prosperity or Culture, Sustainable and Prosperous Tourism as the theme of ISTPC this year. We want the youth who are interested in participating to find out more information about sustainable tourism and pour it into the photos and vlogs that they submit. They also have to explain their opinions about what sustainable tourism really is and whether it is important to them and why," explained Valerina Daniel, an expert at the Ministry of Tourism for Sustainable Tourism Development who is also the head of ISTPC 2019 and one of the judges.

The second phase of the ISTPC 2019 will take place for 4 weeks on the 29th of July this year at 00:00 WIB and will end on the 25th of August, 2019 at 23:59 WIB. Let's take part in the 2019 Indonesia Sustainable Tourism Photo Competition (ISTPC) and get a travel prize for six winners to Raja Ampat!
