Places of Interest Around Komodo Island

Komodo National Park is situated in the borders of East and West Nusa Tenggara, comprising of Islands Komodo, Padar, Rinca, as well as 26 other smaller ones. The territory covers a total of 1,733 square kilometers and is declared a UNESCO Heritage Site.

The park was initially founded to protect komodo dragons, the biggest lizard in the world. However, it was later dedicated to preserve other species as well. The area contains some of the richest marine biodiversity on Earth, which makes it an increasingly popular destination for diving. Visitors can immerse themselves in the authentic experience of being close to some of the most exciting wildlife scenes in the country.

Komodo Island

(2 hours 33 minutes by ferry)
At the beginning of 2020, Komodo island will be closed for the visits. This closure is planned for a two year period and is intended for the environmental rehabilitation of the island and to improve the conservation efforts for the komodo dragons. However, visitors who wish to experience face to face with the omodo dragons can still do so on Padar island and Rinca island.
