Sheikh Muhammad Nafis Al Banjari was a prominent Banjarese Sufi scholar who firmly opposed all forms of oppression. Besides being known as an expert in Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), he was also an expert in Sufism. His famous work, "Ad-Durrun Nafis," contains Sufism teachings. Sheikh Muhammad Nafis is thought to have died around 1812 CE and was buried in Binturu Village, Kelua District.
