Festival Perang Air

The Water War Festival in Kepulauan Meranti, Riau, is a unique tradition held annually during Chinese New Year in Selatpanjang. The festival brings the entire community together in water battles, cultural parades, traditional and modern performances, culinary bazaars, and local MSME stands. The main streets transform into giant water play arenas, creating a lively, inclusive, and interactive atmosphere. As the only water war festival in Indonesia and one of two in the world, it has become a cultural and tourism icon, attracting domestic and international visitors while supporting the local creative economy.
