Indonesia Museum of Health and Medicine (iMuseum IMERI FKUI): A National Reference in Medical Education and Health

The Indonesia Museum of Health and Medicine, also known as iMuseum IMERI FKUI, is a specialized medical education museum located in Central Jakarta. It is officially registered in the Museum Indonesia system, making it part of Indonesia’s national museum registry. 

iMuseum’s mission is to serve as a national reference museum for health and medical education, offering immersive educational experiences about the journey of medical education and public health in Indonesia.

iMuseum is a specialized museum dedicated to the preservation, presentation, and interpretation of medical education history and health sciences. It serves both academic and public audiences, bridging historical artefacts with contemporary health knowledge.

    Unlike general history or cultural museums, iMuseum focuses specifically on medical sciences and health education. 

 

Management

The museum is managed by the Indonesia Medical Education and Research Institute (IMERI) — a medical education and research body under the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (FKUI)

 

History

iMuseum was inaugurated on September 14, 2017, after years of planning, research, and collection development. It was created to document and interpret the history of medical education in Indonesia and provide a dynamic platform for public health learning. 

 

Museum Collections

iMuseum houses over 5,000 collections, including: 

  • Historical medical specimens.
  • Teaching models and educational tools.
  • Visual media, photographs, and archives.
  • Advanced learning equipment such as the 3D Human Body Visualization Table.

These collections highlight the evolution of medical science and support educational engagement for students, professionals, and visitors.

The museum’s vision is to be a nationally recognized museum in the field of health and medical sciences education.
