Established in 2004, Museum Situs Purbakala Patiayam was developed following extensive archaeological discoveries in the Patiayam area. Research conducted by the Yogyakarta Archaeological Center and Sangiran Preservation Office identified thousands of fossil fragments, revealing a diverse prehistoric ecosystem.
Museum Situs Purbakala Patiayam is a general museum that houses and exhibits archaeological findings from the Patiayam Site. It focuses on presenting information about prehistoric human life and environmental conditions during the Pleistocene period.
