Halo Sultra 2018: Introducing the Splendors of Southeast Sulawesi
In commemoration of the 54th anniversary of Southeast Sulawesi, the province's Office of Tourism will stage the 11th Halo Sultra event on April, 23-27 2018. The event will be centered at the capital city of Southeast Sulawesi, Kendari. This is a perfect opportunity for you to explore all the enchanting splendors of the province.
Initially, this annual event was called Kemilau Sulawesi Tenggara or the Sparkle of Southeast Sulawesi. However, since 2009, the name had been changed to Halo Sultra. The word ''Halo'' is taken from ''Haluoleo'' which is the name of a renowned King of Konawe that once ruled over the province in the 17th Century. Sultra is short for Sulawesi Tenggara or Southeast Sulawesi.
The event will feature an exhibition featuring all of the cities and regencies in the province, culinary festival, international photography competition, Halo Sultra business forum (featuring travel agents across the province), art and cultural festival, and a special tenun(traditional hand-woven fabric) carnival. This special celebration will involve more than 6.000 participants from all across Southeast Sulawesi.
The event is also being promoted across Indonesia and to 117 countries in Southeast Asia, Middle East, Europe, America, Australia, and Africa. With massive promotion, the event is projected to attract no less than 100,000 visitors including both domestic and international tourists.
