Garuda re-launches Medan-Singapore flights starting 14 June 2016

Starting  Tuesday, 14 June Garuda Indonesia will re-launch its daily Medan-Singapore flights , which route it suspended in 2002. This is the best time to restart the new route with the upcoming school holidays and Ied holidays in July in mind when many holiday-makers from Medan  go on vacation to Singapore and Malaysia, said Syamsuddin J.S, Vice President Region I, Garuda Sumatra, as reported by Kompas .com.

Using Boeing 737-800 aircraft the flight departs Medan daily at 13.30 hrs. West Indonesia Time. While for the first month from 14 June to 14 July, Garuda offers the Promotion Fare of Rp 1.5 million for a Medan-Singapore Return ticket.  For the time being the route is served once daily only.

The route is expected to become a feeder line for Garuda’s long-haul  Jakarta- Amsterdam and Jakarta-London flights that transit in Singapore, added Syamsuddin.

Garuda is convinced that the flight is being warmly welcomed by Singapore businessmen and tourists, as well as travellers from Europe and North Asia who wish to continue their journey from Singapore to visit the magnificent Lake Toba, go surfing on the island of Nias,  and  travel on to other Sumatra destinations.

As capital of the province of North Sumatra, the city of Medan itself offers plenty of business opportunities and many attractions including delicious food and ample shopping opportunities.
