Set to be centered at the Lagoi Resort Area, fronting the beautiful South China Sea.   The  Spartan Race is not your everyday running race - expect to run, climb, push, pull, throw and crawl through walls, hills, trees, mud, barbed wire and other challenging obstacles but still enjoy its  hilarious fun.

The Reebok Spartan Race Bintan will feature two categories . These are the Spartan Beast and the Spartan Sprint. The Beast will test not only your endurance, perseverance and grit, but also your mind. The 21 kilometer Beast packs 40+ Signature Spartan Obstacles and your final hurdle on the #RoadToTrifecta. It won’t be easy, but there is no better feeling than the Spartan Medal around your neck after you fly across the finish line. Meanwhile, the Spartan Sprint is the shortest course. It is perfect for athletes of all levels; from Spartan first timers to seasoned racers. Although the 6 Kilometer Sprint may be the shortest distance, but it packs 22+ exhilarating signature Spartan Obstacles. Both races are open to racers aged 14 and above.

Starting in November, racers will be able to sign up for not only Elite and Open heats but a third additional category, the Competitive Heat. The competitive heat will serve as a middle ground between the Elite field and the Open heat and help bridge the gap for many age group racers and competitive but not elite racers. Competitive Racers will be expected to follow the same rules and standards as the Elite racers. These racers compete for glory and bragging rights, and win points to a World Championship Entry.

The exciting race is expected to attract the participation of 5,000 to 10,000 contenders from all across the world. Reebok Spartan Race also adds to the number of annual international sporting events on the Island that  include the Tour de Bintan, Bintan Triathlon, and Ironman 70.3, thereby establishing Bintan as an important sport tourism center in Indonesia and in the region.

Bintan Island is a short hour’s ferry trip from busy urban Singapore but on arrival it feels like another world. The lush green landscape, quiet and well-paved roads to ride on, and the generous hospitality of the easy-going local population, provide a striking contrast to the hustle and bustle of big cities. Regular ferries ply several times daily from Singapore and Malaysia and also between Batam and Bintan.

Today, Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air and Sriwijaya Air operate frequent flights from Jakarta to the new airport at Tanjung Pinang, capital of the Riau Archipelago province .
