BANDUNG

Bandung, capital of West Java , is a great place to visit any time of the year as it’s not only renowned for its picturesque open vista, but the town also offers many attractions well worth a visit.

Surrounded by green fertile mountains, Bandung today is Indonesia’s center for learning and creativity. Here is the wellknown, Institut Tekonologi Bandung (ITB) established since 1920, the university that has produced many of Indonesia’s top scientists from engineers, geologists to leaders in business management. Today Bandung is one of Indonesia’s most prestigeous university towns. Bandung is also the center of Indonesia’s burgeoning ICT technology, at the same time it is a center of arts and artists. Every weekend and long holidays the city is filled with young people from Jakarta who flock to Bandung to enjoy its youthful creative atmosphere in music, painting, fashion, and the culinary arts.

Completely surrounded by mountains, Bandung, capital of the province of West Java, has a relatively cool and pleasant climate.  Combined with splendid scenery, this attracted the rich Dutch colonial planters to make this city their retreat from the hot tropical weather along the coast. In its heydays the city was known as “Parijs van Java” or Paris of Java, where until today its many tropical art-deco buildings attest of its importance.  Bandung made world history by hosting the first Asian-African Conference in 1955 which brought together for the first time ever, the newly independent nations in Asia and Africa. The Conference successfully produced the Dasasila Bandung or the Bandung Charter that laid the foundation for the Non-Aligned movement and international cooperation among the Asian and African nations.  The Asian-African Conference, held at the “Gedung Merdeka”, established Bandung as the first city in Indonesia to have hosted an international convention.

Surrounded by lush green mountains, Bandung today is Indonesia’s center for learning and creativity. The city has several well known universities and centers of learning. Bandung has also gained a reputation as a shopping haven, especially for textiles and clothing, shoes and footwear, trinkets and other accessories. The city is also popular for its diverse and unique cuisine and snacks.

With the construction of the Cipularang toll road, which shortens the distance from  Bandung to  Jakarta to a comfortable two-hour journey, this has made Bandung a perfect destination for meetings and conventions.  Moreover, its Husein Sastranegara Airport serves as a major gateway for flights from cities in Indonesia including: Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya, Yogyakarta and Bali. The airport also serves direct international flights from and to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Bandung has perfect venues to fit any occasion, ranging from concerts and gigs, exhibitions, and many types of conferences. Bandung also has many hotels complete with facilities to support MICE events. With a wide selection of venues and hotels, and combined with the cool climate and beautiful scenery, Bandung is the perfect destination for hosting Meetings, Conventions and Exhibitions.
