An excellent bar, De Hooi was not in our listing until now only because it is located a bit far from the center, in Pondok Indah, where we seldom venture. In this part of town however, it is easily the most popular and the most happening bar, attracting a good mix of both expats and locals, in an easy going and welcoming atmosphere.

Many regular customer crowd the bar and it seems like most patrons know each other already.. Live music, free-wifi, and a good menu featuring American, Indian, Dutch, Indonesian food (you can take a look at it here: De Hooi menu part 1, part 2, part 3, they do delivery). If you live in Pondok Indah, this is the place where you want to go to have fun.

Tator Coffee Boutique was named after an area in Sulawesi, Indonesia called Tana Toraja short for Tator. The area is well-known as one of the best coffee plantation in the world. Today coffee lovers can enjoy a nice cup of Toraja coffee in other parts of the earth.

Tator Coffee Boutique offers wide selection of coffee beverages, snacks & European pastries that goes well with a cup of Toraja Arabica coffee.With our unique way of brewing the coffee it became an attraction for the customers to enjoy while waiting for their coffee to be served. When entering the boutiques customers can experience the authentic ness of the Toraja culture.

The first boutique was opened in 1998 At Plaza Senayan, Jakarta. It became the first boutique coffee house in the country. Since then we have spread our wings in other shopping malls in town such as; Pondok Indah Mall & Dharmawangsa Square. As there will be more opening in a very near future.

With a touch of art deco‚ a splash of wild creativity and a dash of history‚ the Café offers a unique sensory and culinary experience. Blending original painted and leaded glass windows and century old carved teak panels with clean modern design‚ the Café is indeed an experience that you should not miss. When we conceived and designed this venue, we looked at the (national) cultural context which we were in; therefore the design had to relate to Asian culture.

We were concerned to be sensitive to the tropical environment, by maximizing shadingand the use of thermal mass for cooling.

The activities within the various buildings would add further cultural layers as we linked to these potential references. Whether Thai, Indian, or restaurant or meeting place. We saw the whole complex as a “ Caravansary” ( as on the silk route ) a meeting place which is secure ( enclosing ) welcoming and multi cultural , using antiques and artifacts from the traders and trader cultures who visited this region. We stressed diversity and multiculturalism in a sensual, friendly environment where you can meet, eat, drink and talk, face to face in a calm secure atmosphere.
