Four bloggers and a photographer from Malaysia, invited by KLM and supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and the Jakarta Tourist Office rrecently enjoyed and explored the many tourist attractions of Jakarta and Bandung .
Yuyu Zulekha, Fatin Suhana, the twin sisters Iena and Ida Mansor, influential Malaysian blogger active in their own social media with over 10,000 twitter followers, and photographer Annas Easkey were warmly welcomed to Indonesia on Friday, 22 March at the Dapoer Babah restaurant where they were served authentic Peranakan food .
For this 5 days/4 nights familiarization tour they were accompanied by Sing Yee and Chia Yunsin from TBG Interactive, a partner of KLM.
The next day the group immediately were taken to sea to visit the enchanting Thousand Islands just off the coast of Marina Bay, Ancol, Jakarta. On this first day, the netizens enjoyed the fascinating sceneries of Bidadari Island, Cipir Island, and the Dutch remnants on Onrust Island. On their return to Ancol they were dined at the famous seafood restaurant “Bandar Jakarta”, where they feasted on gurame goreng, udang bumbu telor asin, udang madu, pindang kerapu, tumis kangkung and mouthwatering desserts and drinks.
The following morning the Malaysian bloggers visited the distinguished shopping centers in the capital that are most appealing to Malaysian tourists. At the Alleira Batik Center in Central Park they enthusiastically tried on some of the highest quality hand-woven silks (ATBM), Muslim wear in super silks, habutay silks, and the elegant dobby. The fashion tour then continued to Kemang Area where Dian Pelangi and Mien Boutique introduced the bloggers with Muslim wear based on distinct fabrics from Palembang, South Sumatra.
The last day in Jakarta was highlighted with yet another shopping trip. This time it was to the Thamrin City and Tanah Abang Shopping Center, well loved haunts for Malaysian shoppers. Here bloggers were welcomed by the Management of Tanah Abang Shopping Center and given a thorough tour of this extensive building. After a day full of exhausting shopping , they were all treated to a relaxing spa treatment at the Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa where they were indulged with traditional Indonesian body massage using ancient royal recipes.
The next day, the journey took bloggers to the flower city of Bandung, where a cool breeze greeted them when they set foot to one of the most historical building and icon of Bandung: the Gedung Sate. They were also given a chance to ascend to the highest level of the building for a magnificent view of the city overlooking the majestic Mount Tangkuban Perahu.
Then, it was on to the factory outlets and shopping paradise of Bandung on Jalan Riau which really excited the group . With a distinct shopping style of Bandung, the Malaysians toured each shop along the street that include The Summit, Heritage, Galeri Lelaki, and many others.
Fatin Suhana who owns her own online business (byfatinsuhana.blogspot.com) admitted that the factory outlets in Bandung are the best. She enjoyed the cozy and artistic buildings, Bandung’s cool climate, and also the city’s cuisine. Yuyu Zulekha also expressed her admiration of the city and planned to return to the “Paris Van Java” with her family.
Meanwhile, the twins Iena and Ida Mansor loved the Ice Cream and Avocado Juice. The bloggers who are also renowned models in Malaysia confirmed that they enjoyed Bandung’s pleasant weather and hope to return to Bandung one day to explore Pasar Baru- one of the biggest and oldest shopping centers in the city.
The multi-talented Annas Easkey, who has concentrated on photography for the past 5 years immediately shouted “I Love Bandung” when asked about his impressions. Annas who is also a professional make-up artist for Muslim models was also astonished by the many Art Deco heritage buildings in the city. While Shing Yee Koh and Chia Yunsin said that they really like Bandung’s friendly atmosphere and pleasant shopping ambience.
As afternoon approached, the group of Bloggers ended their trip in Bandung and returned to Jakarta, to fly back to Malaysia. Not only did they carry with them bags full of souvenirs and fashion products, they also returned with suitcases full of sweet memories and pleasant experiences. It is hoped that their stories will spread through their friends and followers, thus further promoting the beauty of Indonesia to everyone in the realm of internet.
