The seventh annual Jakarta Anniversary Festival (JAF) will take place in the
Jakarta Art Building (GKJ) from June 4 to 30, a spokesman said Saturday as
reported by Antara state news agency.
"Jakartans are quite enthusiastic about art and culture, so we expect JAF will be a success," Adi Reksodirdjo said.
The event, he said, also aimed to provide educational and recreational entertainment for both local residents and for those from outside Jakarta.
Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo is expected to open the 2009 JAF on June 4, with a display of Flamenco (Spanish) music and dance organized in cooperation with Spanish Embassy.
The JAF will also present a number of national leaders and artists, Adi said.
Other highlights will include Javanese shadow plays (Wayang Orang) and French comedy performances, Adi said.
