The eagerly anticipated Jakarta Great Sale (JGS) has begun with a bang. Launched with fireworks simultaneously set off at 33 malls around the city, the Great Sale 2010 promises to be bigger than ever.
In celebration of the cities 483rd birthday, this enormous sale will see discounts of up to 80 per cent off regular retail price at 1,200 shopping outlets throughout the city. The sale will last from June 18th 2010 until July 18th 2010. So if you happen to be in Jakarta this month, prepare for a shopping spree. With more than 33 malls scattered throughout the city you’ll certainly be able to find a bargain. Search for discounted designer goods at one of Jakarta’s popular malls including Arion Plaza, Atrium Senen, Emporium Pluit, Mall of Indonesia, Senayan City, Blok M Mall, and Pluit Village.
This annual sale commemorates the anniversary of Jakarta that falls on June 22nd 2010. The Governor of Jakarta, Fauzi Bowo, expects that the sale will once again offer a great opportunity to promote Jakarta, a city renowned for being a shopping paradise. The Great Sale will also attract a lot of Jakartan’s expected to take advantage of the opportunity to splurge pick up some heavily discounted items.
The Great Sale is only one part of the cities birthday celebrations. Along with the sale there will be a colorful puppet festival, gastronomic delights with “Waroeng Jajan Nusantara”, live music performances and, in some malls, mid-night shopping.
