Stage 4 of Tour de Singkarak

Today the Tour embarked from Padang Panjang with riders navigating a narrow road through the scenic hillside to the finish line at Sawahlunto. Today’s stage, stage 4 was 81.1 kilometers. Many riders found the last 2 kilometers the most challenging as they picked up speed going round the sharp bends right up until the end of the race.

Azad university team, from Iran, won this leg of the race, closely followed by Tabriz Petrochemical. In third place was the Giant Asia Racing Team.

Taking out the title of King of Mountain and earning himself a polka dot jersey was Usman Ali. The green jersey for individual general classification by points went to Sacha Damrow.

For individuals in the race, Amir Zargari came in with the fastest time of 1 hour 51 minutes and 41 seconds. The fastest Indonesian rider, picking up the red and white jersey was Tonton Susanto.

Last night, riders were treated to dinner in Padang Panjang where dancers performed a spell binding performance of tari piring – a traditional plate dance. In this unique performance, dancers smash the plates and then in a frenzy of activity, perform on top of the broken plates without spilling a drop of blood.
