Indonesia wins Gold Award at the Hong Kong Flower Show 2014

Indonesia again made an outstanding achievement by triumphantly winning the Gold Award at the Hongkong Flower Show 2014, that is ongoing at the Victoria Park, Causeway Road, Hong Kong from 7th to 16th March 2014. The Gold Award is the top recognition given to the participant of the show to have presented the best performance.
Participating in the floral fiesta for the past five years, Indonesia never failed to win an award. Last year, the delegation even managed to win awards for both Best Performance and Best Design.
"Ever since the show was held for the first time, the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong cooperating with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has consistently promoted the country’s large variety of flowers and cultural attractions found in the many provinces ; the flowers were then designed and constructed in the form of landscapes and decorative products," stated Indonesia’s Consul General in Hong Kong, Chalief Akbar, as reported by antararanews.com.
Consul General Chalif added that the Hongkong Flower Show has become a media for Indonesia to promote its tourism attractions as well as its agribusiness industry which in this case are the wide selections of beautiful flowers.
This year, Indonesia - represented by Taman Bunga Nusantara, - featured the theme: Tomohon
, after last year’s presentation of the beauty of Aceh
on the island of Sumatra.

, its capital city. Tomohon is known for its pretty gardens and flowers that come in many vibrant colors and shapes. The town even has its own annual flower festival which is the Tomohon International Flower Festival.
The beauty of Tomohon was presented in an 8 x 8 square meters pavilion attractively decorated with fragrant flowers including roses, orchids, chrysanthemums, lilies, gerbera, and the kalanchow flower which is the main theme of this year’s Hongkong Flower Show. The Indonesian Pavilion was also decorated with Tomohon’s distinct carvings in sparkling gold colors. Inside the pavilion which resembled a traditional house, a couple wearing Tomohon’s traditional wedding dress greeted visitors , seated on the traditional wedding chair complete with distinct carvings.
The Indonesian pavilion also showcased traditional dance performances from other provinces including West Java
’s Jaipong Dance, the Pendet Dance from Bali,
The Hongkong Flower Show 2014 was participated by 200 flower enthusiast organizations, educational institutions, agribusinesses, horticultural research organizations, and others from 16 different countries. The event featured 350 thousands flowers including 40 thousands vases of kalanchoe flowers in 6 different varieties.
