The 2009 Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions is taking place in Bali, Indonesia from 4 November through 8 November. Twelve international series winners from all over the world compete in the event, from Marion Bartoli (France) who holds the 12th world rank to Kimiko Date-Krumm (Japan) at 101th.
The games are held at Bali International Convention Center's indoor hard courts. And the winner will walk away with the US$150,000 prize and 430 points. Even those who lose in the round robin will still receive at least $US15 thousand. More than enough to explore Bali, which was recently awarded as "The 2009 World Best Island" by Travel & Leisure Magazine, for the rest of their stay.
The first round on November 4th already showed a surprising outcome as Germany's Sabine Lisicki admitted defeat by France's Aravane Rezai. On the other hand, Marion Bartoli had little difficulty in defeating Magdalena Rybarikova in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). On 7 November, the competition will proceed to the finals.
