Next year, it may be worth a visit to Bali, Indonesia, as this destination's recently featured in the new Lonely Planet guide, Best in Travel 2010, as the second place in Top Regions, behind Alsace, France.

For five years, the travel company Lonely Planet's been publishing this travel guide for best places to go and best things to do in the next year. "This is a collection of destinations and experiences that we rate as the stuff people really should consider for next year. Whatever your own style dictates, you should be able to find inspiration in these destinations," said Asia-Pacific communications manager Adam Bennett.

Earlier this year, Bali has been awarded The World's Best Island 2009 by Travel & Leisure Magazine. While Ubud, a small town within the island, was also voted as The Friendliest Town of All and Top City in Asia 2009 by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine.

The recognition may keep on coming as the exotic island will get a special mention in the upcoming 2010 movie, Eat, Pray, Love, based on the bestselling Elizabeth Gilbert's memoir. Currently, the filming still takes place in Ubud and Jimbaran, Bali. Academy Award winner Julia Roberts and Indonesia's talented Christine Hakim are two of the stars involved in the production.
