Vibrant colors, daring designs, and a massive fiesta will decorate metropolitan Jakarta once again as Jakarta Fashion Week 2013, the biggest and most spectacular Fashion Festival in Indonesia gets underway from 3rd to 9th November 2012, held at Plaza Senayan, Jakarta.
The festival boldly carries the theme “Indonesia Today, the World Tomorrow” as an intention to establish Jakarta and Indonesia as one of the reputable fashion centers of the world.
Featuring no less than 170 top designers in 60 shows for a week long duration, the Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2013 will present some of Indonesia’s fashion masterpiece, projecting towards next year‘s fashion trends. Among renowned names to showcase their works are: Anne Avantie, Barli Asmara, Billy Tjong, Carmanita, Ghea Panggabean, Kanaya Tabitha, Oscar Lawalata, Priyo Oktaviano, Sebastian Gunawan, Friederich Herman,Fyodor Golan, Hengki Kawilarang, Herman Nuary and Musa Widyatmodjo. The festival will also feature works of designers from England, Korea, Thailand, and others.
Hundreds of Indonesian and international models will display designers' top selections on the runway of JFW 2013, while about a thousand journalists from all types of media are expected to cover this spectacular event. The event will also be broadcast live through video streaming on the official website of JFW 2013.
Kicking off the Jakarta Fashion Week will be the opening show which will feature the works of Sebastian Gunawan and Lie Sang Bong, Korean designer who resides in Paris. Anne Avantie, Lenny Agustin, Ivan Gunawan, and Obin will take part in the Apresiasi Pesona or Appreciation of Appeal, while Ghea Panggabean and Priyo Oktaviano will present the Fashion Knights Diva. The other show that offers its own unique features is the Fashion Tent which will present Indonesia’s home-grown fine Weaving and Embroidery from Albert Yanuar, Hian Tjen, and Roemah Kebaya. The festival will also feature 8 chosen works from designers under the intensive supervision of the Center for Fashion Enterprise (CFE), in London. One of these chosen designers, Fyodor&Golan will also showcase their works on the last day of the festival.
In its 5th year, JFW 2013 will also present the special Pia Alisjahbana Awards which will be extended to individuals or establishments that have played a significant role in the development of Indonesia’s fashion industry.
